Nonstick Japanese Yoghurt Lid
Toyal Lotus
Yoghurt, dubbed ‘the greatest food in human history by Shelley, also cured millions of children around the world of anorexia at the end of the 20th century. Yet there is a fact that after opening the yoghurt lid, a lot of yoghurt remains on the inner surface of the lid and the yoghurt left on the lid is thicker and more delicious than the yoghurt in the box. Therefore, many people habitually lick the yoghurt lid before or after drinking yoghurt. The Japanese do not have the habit of licking the lid of yoghurt. The main reason for this phenomenon lies in the design of the Japanese yoghurt cover, which can truly ensure that no yoghurt remains on the surface of the yoghurt cover after opening.
This technique is called Toyal Lotus, which was inspired by the water-resistant nature of the lotus flower and uses tiny bumps to stop the liquid from sticking. The technology is from German manufacturer Toyo Aluminium, which won a silver medal at the 2013 DuPont Packaging Innovation Awards. After that, he partnered with Japan's Morinaga Milk Industry to bring the technique to consumers. The yoghurt in Morinaga's line doesn't have any stickiness on the lid. The inner sealing surface of the cover provides extremely strong water resistance. This material prevents the yoghurt from adhering to the inner surface of the lid, keeping the lid dry and clean to meet consumers’ demands. The popularity of Japanese yoghurt with a non-stick cover design shows that if a product wants to stand out in the market competition, it should not blindly lower the price to gain market share but pay attention to every detail.
